Merlin Bobb is a New York–born DJ, producer, and former music executive whose influence helped shape the global sound and culture of house music. A true pioneer of the genre, his legacy spans decades—from the early days of underground radio to the highest levels of the music industry.
He first rose to prominence on WBLS, where his groundbreaking mix show introduced audiences to the emerging sounds of Chicago, New York, and New Jersey house—helping define a movement that would go on to change dance music worldwide.
Beyond the decks, Merlin played a pivotal role in bringing house music into the mainstream during his tenure at Atlantic Records and Elektra Records, where he served as Senior Vice President of A&R. Over the years, he has collaborated with and championed icons such as Frankie Knuckles, Louie Vega, David Morales, and Kerri Chandler, while also working with global superstars including Missy Elliott, Pharrell Williams, and Dr. Dre.
As co-founder of Club Shelter, one of New York City’s most iconic nightlife institutions, Merlin helped define an era of club culture whose influence continues to resonate globally.
